The course is not intended to fully train participants in CFD modelling, but to appreciate the underlying processes and data interpretation. On completion of the course, participants will have a basic understanding of the fundamentals of fluid dynamics and numerical techniques and understand the workflow of modern CFD processes. More detailed information regarding operating system setup (Mac OSX, Linux, Windows 10), OpenMP compilers (C++, Fortran90), and other configurations needed for the short course will be provided as the conference approaches.
30-day free trial (full version) available by contacting:Įmail: experience is desired, but not required. 3-day free trial (full version) available via Tecplot website. 30-day free trial (full version) will be provided to each participant. Participants will need to bring a laptop computer with the following installed: CFD model output is used as ELAM model input. The second half of the course will introduce the basic capabilities and limitations of the Eulerian-Lagrangian-Agent Method (ELAM) model developed by Dr Goodwin over the past 20 years for analysing and forecasting the movement trajectories and distributions of fish near waterway infrastructure. The first half of the course focuses on the fundamental principles of fluid dynamics and provides hands-on experience with modern computational fluid dynamic (CFD) software to analyse the hydraulic patterns of a simple test case.
